Thailand is a Beautiful Country which offers some of the best value, weather and holiday experiences you will find anywhere.
It is still one of the most cost effective and popular destinations Worldwide, and with good reasons.

As we are based in Thailand we would like to clear the air a bit, and give you one piece of information that may prove vital if you don’t want sickness to spoil your Holiday in Thailand. And it may surprise you?
The plan is to give you good reason to visit, and see what Thailand has to offer as a beach or holiday destination

Beware of the Food
I know that sounds terrible, Thai food is some of the tastiest and healthy food in the World. Or is it?
It’s a very well known fact that many Tourists suffer from bad stomachs after a few days of eating Thai food, Particularly Westerners.
This can have an even more devastating effect on Expats that are here in Thailand for a longer period of time. My Husband is one.
He loves Thai food and has always enjoyed spicy to very spicy. I was a Chef in several Thai restaurants in the UK for nearly 10 years, and that’s where I met him.
Surprisingly, the freshness of the food is often not the culprit with Thai food. But no-one want stomach cramps sickness and Diarrhea that often follow That excellent bowl of Tom Yum Gong.
The Culprit - It May Surprise You
In Thailand, many of the street vendors use enormous amounts of MSG to improve the flavor of their food. It also is said to keep it tasty for longer.
We found a great article by bestwaytolooseweight.com that gives information about allergies & obesity that are directly caused by excessive MSG.
We have a friend that once said with a bit of MSG you can make an old flip-flop tasty… Well maybe?

Our Story - From My Husband Leon
I spent almost 8 years without having the chance to get well when I first came to Thailand.
I never realized at the time, but every few days we would eat food from the street vendors and even restaurants without a thought.
I was getting very sick with chronic digestive issues including multiple duodenal ulcers, severe re-flux and I even had to have non-malignant tumors removed from my colon.
We spent hundreds of thousands of Thai baht on Hospitals and tests and I just gradually continued to get worse.
I remember, one time when I complained about the massive amount of medication I was on, the doctor told me I would be on this sort of medication for life, or my digestive issues would develop into Cancer within a few years.
I am now off all medication and back to 100%.

The Happy Ending
Thankfully there is a happy ending. A friend of ours suggested that he should eat at home and that I should not use MSG in any food for a couple of weeks.
Within a week he was feeling much better, within three he considered himself cured, and he was!
This would be about 18 months ago now and on several occasions, we have eaten at places that, despite being told not to use MSG have, and within hours he feels sick and it usually makes him under the weather for a good few days.
Within a week he was feeling much better, within three he considered himself cured, and he was!
The cumulative effects of this poison can have dramatic effects. if you suffer from digestive issues in Thailand avoid MSG for a week or two, my bet is that you will feel much better.
My advice to new when eating out in Thailand. ‘Mai Chai Pom Shoe Rot’ (no MSG).
